President: Mongolia to maintain stable, good-neighborly, cooperative ties with China

Mongolia is committed to maintaining stable, good-neighborly and cooperative relations with China, Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar said here Wednesday.

Enkhbayar made the remarks during a meeting with Chen Xiaogong, assistant chief of the General Staff of China's People's Liberation Army.

The good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust between China and Mongolia has been developing smoothly and achievements have been made in bilateral military cooperation, he said.

The president also congratulated China on its successful hosting of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Chen, who is in Ulan Bator for the third Sino-Mongolian Defense Security Consultation, conveyed Chinese President Hu Jintao's sincere regards to Enkhbayar.

Chen said China attaches great importance to the development of a good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust between the two countries.

China is willing to work together with Mongolia to push forward mutual trust in security, and strengthen military exchanges and cooperation, he added.

Chen, who arrived here Tuesday for a four-day visit, also congratulated Mongolian athletes on their excellent performance in the Beijing Olympics.

China and Mongolia held their third Defense Security Consultation here Wednesday. The first such consultation was held in 2004.
